Treatment Options For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia

Medications and surgery can be used to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). This condition occurs when the prostate gland gets larger and is associated with symptoms such as dribbling, weak urine stream, and urinating at night. BPH is most common in men who are older, but it can also occur in younger men. Treatment depends on the severity of symptoms. A variety of tests may be used to diagnose enlarged prostate. These tests can be done by a physician or by a hospital. Some tests may also rule out other conditions.

Testosterone

Besides promoting libido, testosterone also helps maintain the hormone balance in the body. It is produced by the testes and by the adrenal glands. Females produce testosterone in smaller amounts. It is also synthesized by the ovaries in the placenta during pregnancy.
